If You Put a Clove of Garlic in Your Ear, This Is What Will Happen!
Garlic clove can help in many cases. Garlic is considered a very powerful vegetable even the history, when it was supposed to chase away vampires. But this article isn’t about vampires, it is about an ear ache. Everyone who has experienced an ear ache knows how painful it is. Namely, an ear ache is usually caused by some bacterial infection in the ear, according to the Mayo Clinic. Nonetheless, the main cause of an ear infection is often linked to some other condition like a cold, flu, or allergy.
Hence, these conditions are known to cause inflammation, congestion, and swelling in the ear, throat, and nose. In most of the cases, an ear infection disappears on its own and there is no need of medical treatment. But, this doesn’t mean that you need to sit and endure the pain. Luckily, there are natural ways for a quicker recovery and alleviation of the symptoms.
Olive oil
Few drops of warm olive oil in the ear can alleviate the inflammation- the cause of the ache. This method is safe both for adults and babies.
Garlic
Thanks to its antimicrobial, antiviral, and antibacterial properties, garlic is an excellent way to treat an earache. You can either stick a clove of garlic in the infected ear or make garlic-infused oil. For the preparation you’ll need 1 clove of fresh, minced garlic mixed with some olive oil. Let it sit on low heat for 20 minutes and once the olive oil has been infused, strain, and remove the garlic. After the mixture has cooled off, you can drop two drops of oil into the ear.
Onion
Onion ear muff is very helpful in the treatment of ear aches. Namely, slice one onion in half and take out the inner rings. Then, heat the outer 3 rings in the oven at 300ºF (150ºC). When the rings start to steam, remove and wrap them in a towel. Cup the towel-covered onion over the infected ear.
Ginger
Drinking ginger tea has amazing benefits in the treatment of ear infection. Another option is soothing oil from ginger juice which is prepared by grating a piece of fresh ginger and crushing it to squeeze out the juice. The juice is then warmed and 4 drops are dropped into the aching ear.
Apple cider vinegar
Heat some apple cider vinegar and then pour couple of drops in the air. Cover the ear with some cotton and lie down to allow the liquid to reach deep into the ear.
Honey
A Swedish study found that honey is much more effective than antibiotics in fighting bacteria known as the common cause of ear infection. You’ll need to pour couple of drops into your aching ear.
Coconut oil
Heat 1/8 cup of coconut oil with 2 cloves of garlic in a small saucepan. Leave the oil and garlic to simmer for five minutes. Then, strain the mixture. Next, while lying on your side, apply two drops of oil into the ear. Lie still for five minutes. You can use this remedy twice per day for a week until or until the symptoms go away.
