Important Points To Remember
In addition to the above-presented recipes, it is important to note that there are some precautionary measures that you need to follow to further avoid the darkening of inner thighs. Moreover, the home remedies to lighten inner thighs will work effectively if you care for the skin to prevent further damage.
Below are some precautionary measures that you should follow along with the natural remedies:
1. Minimize Chafing
Chafing is the most common reason for dark inner thighs. Chafing is nothing but the skin irritation caused by the continuous abrasion of the skin with tight clothes, bad cloth material, heavy thighs, etc. This leads to redness, dryness, and prolonged chafing caused by permanent dark inner thighs.
Chafing is commonly seen among people whose thighs rub together when they walk and who wear mostly tight bottom clothes such as non-stretchable jeans. People who are overweight usually suffer from this phenomenon.
Chafing results in a red rash and in severe cases may also cause bleeding and crusting.
In order to minimize chafing follow the below rules:
- Choose bottoms that are breathable and soft such as cotton and rayon so that the harsh fabric does not rub against your skin to cause irritation.
- If you have heavy thighs that rub against each other then make sure to either wear cotton shorts or pajamas underneath the dress to create a barrier between the thighs.
- Apply mild moisturizer or baby powder to minimize the friction between thighs.
2. Use Sunscreen with Short Clothes
When you are wearing any short bottoms such as shorts or skirts, then make sure to apply sunscreen on your legs including your inner thighs.
The skin on the inner thighs is sensitive and is more prone to damage via harsh sun rays. Hence, never forget to apply sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 on the exposed body parts before going out in the sun.

3. Avoid Hot Water
If your skin is already irritated, then do not spill hot water on the inner thigh area as this will worsen the rash. Some people think that dark inner thighs are the result of accumulated dirt and hence they try to remove it using hot water.
Always keep in mind that it is a skin condition and it can only be healed by proper care.
4. Keep Skin Moisturized
Apart from using above mentioned homemade recipes, it is important to keep your inner thighs moisturized. Reasons for this are two: first, moisturized skin recover fast and soothes out the redness, and second, it prevents further chafing.
While selecting moisturizer, make sure to choose the one that is lightly perfumed and has high moisturising abilities.
